Hey Bonnie - you look so good carrying your foal! I love the names you and Simmer have picked out for your baby. They are beautful, both colt or filly. What would YOU like to have if you had your choice????

I laughed and laughed. Snoring! My goodness, Layla. Chaos, you were just as funny. Loved your warm sniff coming through the camera. I felt your virtual horsey breath! You have a very soft muzzle.

Dear Layla,
Eddie is very busy doing scientific research to help me make the correct guesses about the two foals coming. Do you think you could hold off on the ark for a little while?

Layla, do you have a preferred application format. I am busy getting my bribe items in to order before I present my bribe amounts to Eddy. I suppose mine will have to be quite a bribe since I made the comment about the new hillbilly outfit your Mom got you. by the way, will you have to share any of the "goods" with Eddy?

Im typing very quietly in the dark, dont want to make anyone mad. Today I ran away from treat girl. It was not one of my best decisions. She was mad and got the long stingy thing and made me run in a circle, I showed off just how nice I look when I run. I put my tail way up in the air and tossed my head and I ran around the pen like she wanted. After awhile it wasnt so much fun and I was getting tired so I stopped and she came to touch me and I ran away again. She made me keep running. and keep running and keep running. Im exhausted now, sweat is dripping down my face into my eyes and still I have to run. Im totally covered in sweat and white foamy stuff and Im breathy so hard I cant believe there is such a thing as this tired. Finally I cant go any more and I let her catch me. Then she tells me "Well why didnt you just let me catch you in the first place?" Well why didnt she just tell me that in the first place.
Im so tired I can hardly see to type.

Dear Chaos, perhaps it would be best for you to have a quiet talk with Kisses, the most-cooperative horse at Raindance (who gets many treats).

Your friend,

Chaos,
You are a silly boy. When I see my person coming I go right up to the gate so that she doesn’t have to walk in the mud. Then we go to the barn and I get the most wonderful scratches from her. It feels so good that I just want to do the same thing for her but for some reason she doesn’t appreciate me doing that
Layla do I have a spot on your Ark? I would be happy to stand next to you all day and trade scratches.

Layla, where are you hiding the ark. When I was at Raindance on Wed. I looked over and could not even find the materials for use in the building of the ark. We know you have the wood as Joyce saw the lumber trucks head up north to Raindance. I know, the ark is hidden with Big Ben. You are a very clever young lady. We never found the cell phone or laptop either.

We are still working on sealing it. I asked Gary to pick up some pine tar, so we could start making it water proof and he brought over this little tiny can of it. Not even enough to seal a tiny section of the hull. Im thinking that he never built an ark before or he would understand the volume of pine tar that we need.

We are also having a problem with storage space for all the supplies that we will need. Chaos filled the big storage area with Butterscotch and he is refusing to let us in to load the hay.

Well, I rest my case!! Gary said that I would need a tanker full of pine tar in order to finish the ark. Well really......... if I had access to one of those huge tanker ships, why would I need to build an ark? AND another Well really..... does he know how long it would take us to paw a ditch big enough to sail one of those huge ships from the harbor to up to Raindance?

This is a bit of problem, Layla. Gary is a Very Smart Man, and does know about such things. Besides, you are a Princess, and princesses do not do construction work. Remember, a lot of that rain was sent to New York last week, and even more was sent a place called Fargo. Perhaps you could help Gary build a nice pond instead.

And he did offer to get her a tap so she could tap all the pine trees and get her own sap. There are a lot of pine trees in Douglas County. Fortunately things have dried considerably, so maybe an ark won't be needed after all. But then, what to do with those building materials?

I'm sure Layla will come up with something to do with all the building supplies, if she doesn't need an ark anymore

Most of the supplies are locked in the large storage area of the ark. The one where Chaos put Butterscotch. The door is locked and we cant get in. Chaos claims that he had a fight with Butterscotch and refuses to let him out until he apoligizes.

what did Chaos and Butterscotch fight about? How long has he been locked in the room? doesn't Chaos miss his friend.? Maybe Butterscotch should give chaos a butterscotch candy to say he is sorry

I think it is best that Butterscotch stay in the storage area. Its just better that way. Some times you have to make decisions that are not popular, but it is for the good of the species.

It's time for Eddie to take charge and claw the door down. This is not a nice way to treat a friend, Layla. Where was Axel when all this was going on?

I think I'm going to have to send O.T. (formerly known as Tyson) up there.

Chaos, I thought Butterscotch was your best friend - what happened?? I do think you should let him out, if he's really that bad, maybe he just needs to find a new home away from Raindance.

Oh Chaos - that's so funny  As long as it doesn't get stuck, which would be really, really bad; it should come out eventually. Maybe you can get Layla to help you look for it

Well tonight Gramma Carole and I had a talk with Chaos. He checked his stall but no shiny object could be found. We asked Stella to help us look out in the pasture but all 3 of us could not find any shiny object out in the barn paddock. Stella said she will keep looking for us.

Chaos,
Mr. O.T. is checking on plane reservations. He says Eddie accepted his offer to punch the door down. Meanwhile, Eddie will keep shoving cookies through the big hole that he found in the wall. I believe that the Barn Engineer has been diverting some of the water from the new lake.

Your friend in NYC.

Paula and Carole, did you pick through all the poop? There is a bit out there... You probably can enlist Halo and Walker's help, MAYBE Crash, definitely not Eddie.

Poop sure has been the topic of conversation these last several days. Grama Carole's garden and Layla offfering to poop in it. Then Chaos swallowing the key and Carole and Paula looking for it.. Then poor Kami with sand colic, now she is really pooping away.

Welcome Sunny, you sure are a handsome fella. You will love it at Raindance. There are some pretty mares at Raindance. It does get cold there, I haven't visited there in the winter, I'm from the south too, but I don't want any parts of their winters, maybe a short visit.

We have a horse here named Stella that came from Arkansas. She made it through her first winter just fine. Your Mom will groom you and make sure you get a thicker coat.

A birthday present :o :o Do tell us what you know there Southern Gent. I think the mares at Raindance are going to need fans to keep them cool when you come 'round. Bring smelling salts.

Well, Ah jes' don't rightly know much yet. Ah've been so busy, what with the Poke-man bein' here puttin' those darned ole' stingy things in me, my person tryin' to get on me without a saddle--Ah surely can't figure that out! We haven't been goin' for any rides, she jes' keeps comin' and goin' with that new, teeny human foal. So my other human rode me all around, across the road and in the ditches. He doesn't ride as well, but Ah do my best. They kep' aimin' this little box in front of their heads at me, finally we were done. They said somethin' 'bout gettin' it sent off real quick.

It's grand to be a birthday present for a human. Ah'll miss bein' here, but mah human said Ah'll get ridden lots, and have lots of love. Ah'm hopin' she's right. Ah don' even know if it's a mare, stallion, or gelding (like me) human.

Ah will pack my red Union Suit for when it gets col' up there. Ah'm hopin' t'other horses don' try to take it, thay have thick coats if that filly was right. If you know of any of those folks up North have a birthday comin', that might jest be mah new human.

Jest wonderin', what are the other horses like who will be my friends? Are there any needin' to be kep' an eye on?

I think you will make some human very happy. Hope to see more pictures of you real soon. I sure hope your human isn't a gelding. Good for you to be a gelding, not so good for humans.
I am sure you are going to charm everyone at Raindance. Are you a laid back kind of guy?
I bet you are one special horse to be chosen for a birthday.

What a handsome horse you are, Sunny! Are you a bayou boy from Louisiana? My goodness! There's a pretty princess named Layla who will be most intrigued by your presence. There will be a right nice welcoming committee of cats and dogs to greet you, too!
Safe journey, beautiful boy!

Have you sent your paperwork to Eddie yet? I have not seen any applications for residence pass my desk.
We are having a meeting to discuss this red union suit you claim to have. Chaos is concerned about having another Confederate on the farm.
Eddie will have the final say so.

I almost died again!!!
Today I had my first hair cut. the mean one used the super load buzzy things they call clippers and cut a bunch of my mane off and all of my whiskers.
It was just horrible, I fought with all my might and then she put the nose squishy thing on me and still I fought. They won, I am whiskerless and missing a big chunk of my mane!!!
However I am proud to announce that it took three of them, the nose thingy, a lead rope and a huge wooden post sunk 5 ft in the ground to beat me.
They may have won the battle but the war is not over.

But what about Butterscotch! Chaos, get your act together!

Auntie Colleen

P.S. O.T. says he has found his flight. He says he wants to hear that Butterscotch is being his happy self, with no more nonsense! For some reason, he seems pretty steamed up about this.

I bit the vet!!
It was the only thing I could do to try to save my little buddy from the horrible things she was doing to him. She smacked me and then I was tied up in the corner and stood very quitely while she operated on him.

Thank y'all kindly for askin' after me. Ah arrived late las' night. It is a VERY long ways from Loo-zi-anna up here, an' pardon me for sayin', but it is wicked cold outside! Th' nice folks at Raindance Farms gave me excellent hay, water, an' put a cozy blanket on me. Mah papers must have arrived in good order, there was no Big Eddie sendin' me back South. Ah was worried 'bout that, didn' know if he was a Fresian, Percheron, or one of them big hotbloods that can kick a boy clear to kingdom come! Now ah can tell Miss Layla in person there is no Rebel blood in this boy, Ah am true Blue USA. Y'all have to s'cuse me now, Ah'm goin' outside for a good roll to take the kinks out aftah mah long trip!

Regards from the Southern Gentleman,

How was your first day at Raindance? I hope you let us know all about you and post some pictures. How are the others horses treating at you? Do they like your accent?

Thank you all for your birthday wishes! My Best Person Ever and the Young One Amara brought apples to our field for a birthday celebration for Sunday, Ledge, and me this afternoon. They were very yummy! They talked to us and scratched us for a long time: I really like the Young One. She knows good spots to scratch me, and laughs at me when I make Kisses faces, ha, ha! Then later, the Barn Engineer brushed my brother Ledge for a long time while My Best Person Ever brushed me. It was so nice, warm, and sunny out: Sunday was wandering out nibbling on grass while we got brushed. My Best Person Ever told me yesterday was my canine sister Emma's 5th birthday. I like Emma: we rubbed noses when I met her. Halo likes her, too. My Best Person Ever has been very busy, traveling far away to help other horses so they don't have to be hungry like my brother WindChill was. He was such a sweet boy, I'm sad when I think of how hard he tried. I miss him. I'm glad my Best Person Ever is trying to help others of us, even though I don't see her when she has to go away for a few days. I know it's for a really good reason, and she misses me when she's gone.

We all very politely walked them back to the barn to let them know how good we felt. The Barn Engineer said I share my birthday with my human brother Mike, except he is VERY old, as old as Miste, I think, 25!! Wow, I hope he doesn't creak when he walks and pin his ears at us young ones as much as she does! It was a VERY nice 4th birthday, and thank you all, I hope you had a very nice, sunny day, too! 8)

The most cooperative and cheerful 4 year old at Raindance,
Kisses xo

Kisses you sure had a wonderful birthday, you are a sweetie. I spent the day with horses today, I don't get to do this often. There are beautiful horses that have been mistreated, neglected, abandoned. This wonderful lady named Theresa takes them to her farm and there they are treated with dignity and respect and they know they are loved, as all horses should be treated. Some find their forever family and some live out their days at Beauty's Haven, where they will always know love.

You are so lucky to have all these special people in your life. There are some horses that never have special people and know what real love is.

Lots of xoxoxoxo.....x Kisses
